Lake Ala-Kol and Takyr -Teur hot springs

Trekking Tour: 11 days 

Day 1  Bishkek: Arrival  in Bishkek. In the morning we have a small sightseeing tour of Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, where a famous soviet General Mihail Frunze was born.   Visit of the squares of the capital and walk around the city. Overnight in guesthouse.



Day 2 Transfer Bishkek –  Karakol: After breakfast we head to the east to find ourselves at the eastern part of the Issyk-Kul Lake. On the way visiting the Burana Museum, a site of a medieval city of Balasagun, the capital of the Karahanid Kaganate, a Turkic dynasty of the 11 century. Setting off for the Issyk-Kul Lake.  Overnight in Karakol.   


Day 3 Transfer Karakol  – Kashka-Suu Gorge: An hour away by car there is  Karakol gorge, that is admired by tourists. Then we hike up to Kashka-Suu gorge and pitch up our camp there (4 h) 3240 m. Overnight in a tent.


Day 4 Kashka-Suu Gorge –   Chon Kok-Djar Gorge: Today we cross mountain brooks, enjoy wonderful scenery high mountains of the Tien-Shan mountain range, green spruce forests, sparkling glaciers. We reach Chon Kok-Djar Pass ( 6 h). Overnight in a tent ( 2700 m).


Day 5 Chon Kok-Djar Pass- Keldike Gorge: In the morning we set off for Keldike gorge. Here we can see a lot of marmots and enjoy the view of beautiful edelweiss fields, situated at the altitude of 3200 m.  6 hours trekking. Overnight in a tent (3500 m).



Day 6 Keldike – Sirota Gorge: After breakfast ascent to Ala-Kul Pass (3860 m). From the pass we can see Karakol (5216 m), Djigit (5170 m), Oguz-Bashy(5168 m) peaks. Behind the pass there is Ala-Kol Lake. The lake is famous because of its altitude (3500 m) and ability to change its color. The color of the lake changes from turquoise to dark-violet.


Overnight in a tent. (3000 m).


Day 7 Takyr-Teur Pass – Takyr-Teur Gorge (hot springs): Today descent to Karakol gorge, then hiking up to Takyr-Teur Pass. We will see glaciers and slopes that make this great mountain attractive for shepherds. 8 of trekking, altitude 2900 m. Overnight in a tent.



Day 8 Takyr-Teur Gorge –Arashan Gorge:   After breakfast we descent to the Altyn-Arashan valley (golden spring). The landscape of Altyn- Arashan attracts a lot of tourists. Altyn-Arashan sanatorium is famous for its radon and thermal curative spas. Overnight in a tent (2600 m).


Day 9 Transfer Arashan - Karakol: This morning we can go for a walk, go towards radon springs.  In the afternoon we hike along the river to Ak-Suu village. On the way we cross Ortok Pass ( 2100 m). We reach Ak-Suu village, then transport to Karakol. Overnight in a local family.


Day 10 Transfer Karakol – Issyk-Kul:  From Karakol we depart to the southern shore of the lake. On the way visit of beautiful Djety-Oguz gorge, where we will see a very famous sanatorium of the Soviet time. Soviet president and famous astronauts visited it. After picnic drive to over camp. In the evening dinner at the fire on the lake’s shore. Overnight in a tent. 



Day 11 Transfer Issyk-Kul – Bishkek: Arrival in Bishkek. Sightseeing tour, walk around the city, opportunity to do some shopping. Farewell dinner and transport to the airport.

Kyrgyz visa can be obtained in the permanent representation of Kyrgyzstan in Europe or at Manas International Airport in Bishkek (2 passport’s photos and 35$ per pax, passport with a validity of minimum 6 months.)
